Facetime with a GM coaching sessions – harnessing the wisdom within organisations

I have previously posted about nbn being a learning organisation – where we aim to use the knowledge of our leaders to uplift others (supported by more formal training, of course). Here are two of my colleagues who are great examples of people with a learning and growth mindset.

Vijay wanted to broaden his influencing, presentation and facilitation skills – and as a delivery manager, he was already using these skills – but wanted to take it to the next level. So I coached him to set up a Community of Practice for our Delivery and Project Managers – together with Michelle Gunaratnam.  These sessions gather like-minded folks from across nbn – and aim to uplift organisational practices for project delivery.

As Vijay summarizes his learning – “The DM / PM CoP is a platform for DMs across the business to learn, share and grow together.  Starting anything new requires courage and trust that your team is always there to support you. This community has helped me build confidence and create strong professional networks. One theme that resonates with me is to be resilient despite the challenges and be humble despite the success.”

In the picture below on the left we our GM of Operational Enablement and Services – Andrew Kaszubski. Andrew has the most fascinating leadership insights – and he is always willing to share these in the coaching sessions I schedule for our people and leaders. After participants have had their session with Andrew, it’s as if the doors of their mind has been unlocked – such is his impact.

Each organisation already has depth of knowledge and IP. What we do really well is harness the power of our senior leaders by connecting them with emerging leaders for coaching sessions. Everyone wins!
