Every now and again, I come across people who insist they are the way they are because they are a Connector, or a Pioneer or a Teacher or an Intuitive or a PiNJ or some other snappy label.
These friends of mine wear their badges proudly, and attribute nearly all of their thinking and actions and behaviours to these labels. Some even go so far as declaring that their minds have been opened because now there is a rationale explanation for their thought patterns and ways of behaving.
But folks, as helpful as these personality tests are for my friends and colleagues, and while it may give them great insights into their personalities or how they work or their values, these tests just don’t cut it for me.
As I see it, as a human being, I am just as complex as anyone else. On any given day, I will hop skip and jump from a Pioneer to a Trusted Advisor to a Teacher to a Coach to a Intuitive to an Empath to just a dull and boring person with weird ideas and a cheeky brazenness that sometimes irritates others.
And depending on my mood, if someone asks me whether I have done that particular test and what (category of person) I am, I usually tell them my star sign.
I then explain that my astrological star sign has given me a huge insight into me – and on many occasions, I find this to be a more reliable predictor of other people’s behaviour.
Then everyone laughs as they think ‘weirdo’, and the world continues to spin and make another revolution around the sun.
There, I’ve now confessed. I’m sin-free, for the moment.
