You know friends, everyone will tell you that the triad to monitor for effective project management is scope, budget and time. And quality if you want to be cerebral about it.
I’m not here to disagree. But I am here to say this:
The most effective way to manage a project is to understand the people in the teams who are delivering it.
- Spend time with the people on the project team.
- Get to know them.
- Listen closely to what they are saying.
- Understand what they may be trying to tell you.
- And VALUE them.
If you do this, you will find that managing the scope, budget and time becomes infinitely easier. Ask around to see who your best project managers are. You will find that they are people who truly understand and value people. Simples, no?
