Ok friends. Let’s talk about something that was happening in workplaces before Covid.
Do you recall how it was just easier to ping someone or email them instead of phoning them or walking down the hallway to talk to them?
Do you remember how we all used to joke about this workplace inanity, where we laughed at people (ourselves, really) who preferred to send an email rather than to get up and ask our colleague one desk away something?
Why did we used to do that? Because it was easier. We were lazy. We couldn’t be bothered disturbing people. Or we didn’t feel like talking to the person. Or, we wanted a record of that conversation.
This habit existed before Covid.
I suspect this habit will resurface as we make our way back to offices. So what does this say about us or return to building?
Nothing. I just thought it was an interesting observation I wanted to share with you all for no real reason.
