Small blessings during a job search…..

Recently, I was interviewing for a role with someone who had worked with me in the past, and he was a fan of mine. He agreed I could I do the job easily.

But he didn’t want to put me in front of his manager, who was a ‘conservative type.’ This is code for exactly what you’re thinking right now. 😁 🤣

And you know what? I was perfectly cool with that – because my friend had done me a favour. Why would I want to go to a place where I wouldn’t succeed? Where my manager’s manager would see only my issues – and not the value that I brought?

As eager as my friend was to close off his open role, he didn’t want me to get injured in the process. I was grateful for his support.

I told him that one day, when open-minded advocates like him are running organisations, and people with old-school ways of thinking have retired into the sunset, then maybe he and I would have a chance to work together again.

In the meantime, I remain positive that I will end up where I am meant to be.
