The most useless comment: Let me know if I can help.

😪 A relation is grieving a loss
😣 A colleague has lost their job
😓 A friend is going through a rough patch

You waltz in, all well-meaning and empathetic, and say:

Let me know if I can help.

Seriously, friends, you can do better than that. Think of 2-3 ways you can support this person, and offer this. Examples:

💛 I am making lamp roast tonight. Can I drop some off around 7?

💚 I have an old version of your CV. Can I forward this to 3 of my friends?

💙 I’m booking us a spa treatment next Wednesday. Is 8pm ok for you?

It’s not hard to provide MEANINGFUL support friends, instead of PLATITUDES.
